Rhoderik Kerry “RK” Fitzpatrick, 80, of North Vernon passed away on July 8th at his residence. Born in 1940 to the late Rhoderik James and Helen Fitzpatrick in Chicago, Illinois. On October 15, 1983, he married Cheryl Fields in Gatlinburg, TN and she survives. He is preceded in death by his parents and a stepson Raymond Arthur Marsh.
R.K. is survived by his wife: children, daughter Shannon (Joel) Marsh Snyder, grandchildren, Noah, Nathanael, and Sophia Rose Snyder; son Rhoderik (Gina)Fitzpatrick and two granddaughters Lauren and Sarah Fitzpatrick; sisters Mykle McDowell and Patricia “Pat” Clothier.
If you knew R.K. in passing you probably knew him as a little flashy and a lot of fun. If you lucky enough to know him personally you knew he was a loving, kind and good man who would move mountains for his family and dear friends. If he had the means, he would help anyone he could. Family, friends and even strangers benefited from his giving heart and his desire to “take care” of everyone. He lived and loved fiercely.
R.K. owned R.J. Fitzpatrick Smelters, was a Bartholomew County Sheriffs Deputy, a dedicated supporter of the Indiana State Police and a long-haul Truck Driver. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He loved golf and his golfing buddies, entertaining, riding his Harley and was a very proud grandfather.
R.K. was a Lifetime Member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and belonged to The Moose, American Legion, Elks, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Harrison Lake Country Club, and Seymour Country Club.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 12th, from 11am to 1pm, at Voss & Sons Funeral Service with a service being held at 1pm.
In keeping with Mr. Fitzpatrick’s wishes, cremation services are being provided by Voss Funeral and Crematory Services.
Memorials may be written to the Jackson County Human Society, Bartholomew County Humane Society or Jennings County Humane Society.
