Ricky Lee “Rick” Self

Rick Lee Self, 63 of Seymour, Indiana, passed away at 11:00 pm on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at his home in Seymour, Indiana, after a four year battle with cancer.

He was born September 12, 1953, in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of the late Wayne A. Self and Barbara (Kirk) Self who survives.

He married his wife of 42 years, Rhonda Bruner, on January 26, 1974, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Seymour, Indiana, and she survives.

Rick was a member of the 1972 graduating class of Seymour High school. After high school, he served in the US Marine Corp. He worked as a Professional Truck Driver most of his life for Circle K and Klemm Transportation where he hauled petroleum. He enjoyed horseback riding, riding his Harley and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was very crafty and could build anything.

He is survived by his mother, wife, three children: Brandi (Brad) Thompson, Nicki (Aaron) Merideth and Ryan (Amanda Clemenz) Self; five grandchildren: Bailee Thompson, Blaine Thompson, Rylee Merideth, Allison Merideth and Gracie Self; three brothers: Doug Self, Tim Self and Chuck Self; sister, Lisa Pray, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Kenny Self.

Funeral service will be held at Voss Chapel on Thursday, November 3, 2016, at 1:00 pm with Rev. Tom Judd officiating. Burial will follow at Kurtz Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.

Friends and family may gather at Voss Chapel on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm and Thursday after 12:00 pm until time of service.
