Robert Herbert (Bud) Montgomery, 79, passed away September 15, 2014 at home.
Bud was born in Jackson Co., on July 5, 1935, the son of the late Herbert and Elma (Hazzard) Montgomery.
On June 24, 1956, at Reddington Christian Church, He married the late, Joyce Ann (Kelley) Montgomery.
Bud was a graduate of Shields High School. He began working in the fields from dusk to dawn at age 10, and then when he was old enough to drive he started driving produce that the family raised to the market in Indianapolis. He then worked for Pepsi Cola Co., and eventually worked for Cummins Engine Company from 1966 until he retired after 21 years in 1987. He was a member of Central Christian Church, and member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Seymour.
He bought his first race car in 1956. Bud was an avid racer and race fan. He was a champion horseshoe pitcher and enjoyed golfing. His pride and joy was his flower garden that he created over several years.
Bud is survived by his children; Tim (Kathy) Montgomery, Barb (Mike) Bullard, Todd (Miriam) Montgomery and Debra Forbes, grandchildren; T.R. (Brittani) Montgomery, Casey (Condell) McPherson and Whitney (Rusty) Spray, Joe Forbes, Buddy Forbes, Samantha Forbes, Parker Green, Mollie Green, Sadie Grace, Zeth Montgomery, Salvador Garcia and Laura Garcia, 6 great grandchildren, and sister; Arlene Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Joyce and sister; Miriam Perkins.
Funeral Services will be held at Voss Chapel on Thursday September 18, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Lewis Wright and Rev. Bill Weaver officiating.
Burial will follow at Reddington Cemetery, Reddington with a Voss Dove release.
Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Wednesday September 17, from 4PM to 8PM, and Thursday after 9AM until time of service.
Memorials may be written to Central Christian Church or Donor’s choice.
