Dear Kirtley Family,
We are saddened to hear of the death of your dear one. We unfortunately never got to meet your father/grandpa, but from what we know of your family and of his obit. he must have been a jewel. I know that he must have made such great impacts to so many people. What a life! I am so inpressed at how well your family cared for him, visiting, feeding, listening and letting him know that you all were his beloved family. I know this because I heard our Dr. Kirtley tell of going to visit his father and help feed him at dinner time. I t was a choice by the family to be there for him. Thank you Kirtley Family for being great examples of God's hands and feet. We are still keeping the family in prayer.
Love,
R.T., Teresa, and Abbey Tatlock
Out of respect Dr Kirtley, but I’ve only ever known you as Doc, so it just didn’t sound right today. I’m sorry to hear Doc’s passing. He may still be the only doctor to this day I was not afraid of!! Might have been his grin and his chuckle! He and my dad taught me many things about IU football and basketball growing up, Thanks for all the wonderful memories! My thoughts and heart go out to the family.
I was a patient of Terry and Kirtley several years. My son visited the ER several times for their services. Additionally, I worked at the hospital for several years. He was always kind and patient
Betsy (& Kip) So sorry to hear about your father's passing. When I started at "HCH" in 1980, he was still working in the ER. Although I did not work immediately with him, I grew to know him from the Patients I received on the Surgery Unit, the work he did to improve patient care and to grow the hospital. Also learned a lot from all of those stories told by those who had worked along side of him.
God's Blessings on you and all your families, Theresa L Cordes, RN BSN
Dr. Kirtley was our family doctor during my entire childhood! How many times I remember sitting on the early American bench waiting to be seen. Can’t remember if it was Dr. Kirtley or Dr. Terry that pierced my ears! Back then it had to be done by a doctor! Thank you to his family for all the years of service to the Danville community! Sincerely, Shirley Headrick Heck
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
I worked with Dr Kirtley at the hospital and he was always so kind and funny. He was such a foundation for growing the hospital to what it is today. Thank you for the years of service! God Bless
I worked with Dr. Kirtley in the ED at Hendricks in the 1980s. Such an amazing man, with his patience, kindness and compassion for others. A non forgettable soul. Rest In Peace Dr. Kirtley, so blessed to have known you.
Fond memories of our days on the golf course and his constant chatter. Jerry C

Dr, Kirtley delivered my youngest child, Stacy Alice Staggs Peyton on September 4, 1968. He was a wonderful doctor who knew how to talk to you with nothing but kindness and understanding. We have all lost a great doctor and friend...........RIP Doc. I will be purchasing some Gideon bibles in Docs name so his work on this old earth will continue.
A man who had friends not patients. It was my great privilege to know him.
Dr. Kirtley was the epitome of what a physician should be! Wonderful bedside manner, compassionate spirit and extremely knowledgeable in his profession. He could always make you smile no matter how sick you were. Wonderful man. Rest In Peace
I’m so sorry to hear he has passed. He was my family doctor growing up and I was in school and friends with his children. You all are in my prayers.
You have known me since the second I was born, you brought me in to this world and stitched me up countless times. Working with at Hendricks was an honor. You will be greatly missed. Fly high Dr. Kirtly! You will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I was no more than 4 or 5 years old when my dad took me in to see Dr. Kirtley for a terrible sore throat. He told my dad to pull my pants down a bit to give me a shot in the bottom. My dad stood up and began to walk toward me and I took off like a bullet out of a gun!... screaming! He was chasing me all around that tiny room... and Dr. Kirtley was just standing there holding that needle getting a kick out of the whole ordeal! Loved that man! Prayers for his beloved family!
He was my Dr for many years and delivered one of my five kids. The one he delivered loved him as a Dr and would not see anyone else but him. I was sad when he and Dr Terry gave up their practice and went to the hospital to work.
May you rest in peace Doc, you will always be remembered in my family.
The Drennan family!
Very kind man to our family and thought alot of Dr Kirtley and has been a great Doctor for many years and will be remembered for many years to come ,our condolences to the family
I have many fond memories of Dr. Kirtley. He loved serving others and had. A great sense of humor! God gained a beautiful angel.
Lloyd and Bob paved the way of emergency medicine in Hendricks County, for which all of us currently practicing are grateful.
Where do I start with all the memories :-)) . Dr Bob lived 2 houses away from us in the neighborhood growing up, and every time you even stubbed your toes, you would knock on his door and he would fix you up. He gave me the nick name of Toad. He will be greatly missed.
