Roland G. Duwe, 84 of Seymour, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at IU Health Methodist in Indianapolis.
He was born February 18, 1932, in Dudleytown, Indiana, the son of the late George and Adella (Bishop) Duwe.
He married Maxine P. Hester on June 17, 1956, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown, Indiana, and she survives.
He graduated in the Class of 1951 from Shields High School. He served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955 and then worked for Public Service of Indiana (now Duke Energy) as an Auditor from 1956 until his retirement in 1992. Roland loved sports. He was truly a farmer at heart. After he retired, he spent as much time as he could outside. He enjoyed riding his tractor and gardening; he especially loved growing watermelon and strawberries. He was always willing to help any of his neighbors with anything they needed done.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine, their daughter, Jenice C. (Kevin) Elsner, two grandchildren, Jared and Leah, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Ramon K. Duwe, two brothers, Leonard and Howard Duwe, and two sisters, Mildred Toenjes and Jennie Caddell.
A gathering for friends and family will be held at Voss Chapel on Saturday, May 28, 2016, from 2 to 5 pm.
