Ronnie P. “Higgy” Higginbotham, 61, of Seymour, passed away at home Sunday, May 3, 2015.
Ronnie was born December 12, 1953, in Noblesville, IN, to the late Odas Higginbotham, Sr., and Jackie Jean Wilson Higginbotham who survives in Seymour, IN. He was formerly married to Judy Brown.
Ronnie started out working as a mechanic at Pucks and then went to work for Texas Eastern. He eventually ended up at AK Steel Company in Walesboro, IN, where he had worked the last 18 years. He was a member of ABATE of Indiana for 38 years, as well as The Alley Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Sons of the VFW, Sons of the American Legion, and The American Legion Riders. Ronnie enjoyed portraying Santa Clause for the Lutheran Community Home. He was known as a fix-it man who in his spare time enjoyed fishing and camping and riding his Harleys.
Ronnie is survived by one brother, Odas (Phyllis) Higginbotham, Jr., and three sisters Bonnie (Bud) Daab, Connie (Tony) Bolte, and Stella Higginbotham. He is also survived by his nieces Amy (Murl) Robinson, Tina Bolte, JeanAnn (Shawn) Thomas, Nicole Higginbotham, a nephew Craig (Dawn) Bolte, as well as several great nieces and nephews: Tristan Robinson, Cooper Robinson, Anthony Bolte, Brooklyn Bolte, and Blazdin Higginbotham.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held at Voss Chapel on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at 10:30 am with Br. Rick Wilson officiating.
Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Friday May 8, 2015, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday, after 9:30 am until time of service.
After the Funeral service, “Higgy” will be transported by a Harley Davidson Hearse, to Oaklawn Memorial Cemetery, 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN, for a chapel service at 1:30 p.m.
