Mrs. Ruth H. Sweany, 90, passed away at 8:15 AM Monday, March 27, 2017 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Ruth was born September 14, 1926 in Jackson County, IN, she was the daughter of Elmer and Elizabeth (Marsh) Ruddick.
On September 14, 1946 at Reddington Christian Church, she married Harold H. Sweany who passed away July 16, 2014.
Mrs. Sweany graduated from Shields High School in 1944. She attended Indiana Business College from 1944-1945.
Mrs. Sweany was a member of Central Christian Church, Loyal Devoir Society. Volunteered as Office Angel at church, Hoosier Christian Village, and Jackson Co. Clothing Center. She worked at the Seymour Tribune for 26 years in the accounting department, retiring in 1991.
She is survived by her children, Marsha Fisher, and Larry Sweany, Randy Sweany; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (Brad) Sanders, Susan Hayes, Kim (Mike) Adams, Becky (Colin) Hunter, Shawn Sweany, Matthew Sweany, Christopher Sweany, Sarah Sweany, Erin (Jeff) Sweany, Nathan (Kara) Sweany; great-grandchildren, Christian Hunter, Joe Hunter, Colten Adams, Jackson Sweany; step great-grandchildren, Allie Adams, Paul Sanders.
Preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Elizabeth (Marsh) Ruddick; husband Harold; son, David A. Sweany; three brothers, Francis I. Ruddick, Harold R. Ruddick, George W. Ruddick; and one sister, Betty L. (Ruddick) Mosher.
Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 4 to 8 PM. And on Friday after 9 AM until the time of the service.
Funeral Service will be at Voss Chapel Friday, March 31 at 10:30 AM with Rev. John Carlstrom officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
