Sarah Ann (Hauersperger) Taskey, 87, passed away at her home in Seymour Tuesday, August 13, 2024. She was born in Jackson County on July 16, 1937, to the late John and Pearl (Downs) Hauersperger and is the last of their 15 children.
Sarah was a Hayden Haymaker throughout her school years and attended the same school from grades one through 12. She was a cheerleader in high school and was called the “One-armed Bandit” for playing a mean game of volleyball. She loved all sports and was a fan of the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts, but her biggest joy was watching all her children and grandchildren at their sporting events. She enjoyed Scrabble, euchre, and board games.
Sarah is remembered as being an excellent mother who loved everyone; funny, witty, and patient. She not only raised her children with love, but also helped raise her grandchildren and would babysit any time. She was loving and generous. Sarah was a devout Catholic and lifelong member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church of Seymour.
Left behind to cherish Sarah’s memory are her children, Jackie Stout of Seymour, Aaron “Butchie” (Robin) Taskey of North Vernon, Stanley (Karen) Taskey of Seymour, Sally Helton of Aurora, and Holly (Craig) Montgomery, Seymour; grandchildren, Amber Stout, Julia Stout, Seth Montgomery, Sydney Montgomery, Jason (Meghan) Taskey, Jessica Taskey, Derek Helton, Samantha Vires, Megan Taskey, Toby Taskey, Brittani Dishman, and Michael Taskey Jr.; 13 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Aaron R. Taskey Sr.; her parents, listed above; her son, Michael Edward; and her great granddaughter, Rachel Blake.
