Sarah Lillian Jones Tormoehlen

Sarah Lillian Jones Tormoehlen, 84 of Vallonia, Indiana, passed away Monday, September 5, 2016, at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born October 19, 1931, in Letcher County (Kingdom Come), Kentucky, the daughter of Isaac Conley and Bettie (Frazier) Jones.

She married Robert Charles “Butch” Tormoehlen on June 14, 1953, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wegan, and he preceded her July 17, 1997.

Sarah was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wegan. She was a loving housewife who devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, needlework, crocheting and loved caring for her grandchildren. She cherished every moment with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children, Thomas Leon (Debra Fleetwood) Tormoehlen, Jeanne Kay (David) Null and Sharon Kaye Tormoehlen; five grandchildren: Alysha Ann Tormoehlen (John Batic), Leann Marie (Ryan) May, Matthew Thomas Tormoehlen, Erin Kathleen Null (Benjamin) Stein and Jonah David Samuel Null; three great-grandchildren: Luna Grace Batic, Scarlett Lorraine Stein and Adeline Lillian Gertrude Stein; and a sister, Mary Lou Caudill Tormoehlen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant granddaughter, Gabriella Bobbie Jo Null, siblings: Alpha Jones Ratliff, Elbert Jones, Alma Jones Fields, Edgar Jones, Minnie Jones Akemon Simpson, John H. Jones, Marie Jones, Lucinda Mavis Jones, Reva Jones Lunsford, Thumbelisa Jones Williams, Faye Jones Simpson, Casey Jones and Charlie Jones.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 12, 2016, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Martin Keller officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wegan.

Friends and family may gather at Voss Chapel on Sunday from 4 to 8 pm and at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wegan, on Monday after 10 am until time of service.

Memorial checks may be written to donor’s charity of choice.
