Tom Tabeling, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Seymour on the evening of Monday, September 23, 2024. He was born January 25, 1941 in Glen Dean, Kentucky, to the late Henry Thomas Tabeling and Dailey Mae (Mattingly) Peterson.
Tom was a hard worker, retiring after 33 years at International Harvester. A talented musician, he played multiple instruments including the 12-string guitar. He was a lover of many kinds of music, and music brought great joy to his life. Tom enjoyed playing and watching most sports and was an avid golfer. But he was never happier than when he was spending time with his family, especially his beloved wife of 64 years, Libby. Tom was a devoted family man with a big heart for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Left behind to cherish Tom’s memory are his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Libby” (Embry) Tabeling; his children, Regina (Gary) Dickey of Kentucky, Bob (Barbara) Tabeling of Seymour, Indiana, daughter-in-law, Rhonda Tabeling of Florida, Angela (David) Frith of Missouri, Wendy (Art) Turner of Kentucky, and Daniel (Kelly) Tabeling of Indiana; nephews, Chris (Sharon) Brown of Kentucky and Jeff Brown (Angela) of Kentucky. Tom has 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, listed above; his son, Mark Thomas Tabeling; brother, Robert Tabeling; and sister, Dorris Bratcher.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Seymour, at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2024. Father Dan Staublin and Deacon Mike East will officiate. Friends may call at the Church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the Mass begins. Tom will be laid to rest in St. Ambrose Cemetery immediately following.
