On July 11, 1946, at the Dudleytown parsonage, Rev. George Steinkamp performed the ceremony as she married Ralph Bobb; her husband preceded her in death on October 12, 2010. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church Dudleytown, where she taught Sunday School for 1st and 2nd graders. She was a member of Lutheran Child and Family Services for many years. She stayed very active developing her art techniques, she had great pride as she was a self taught artist. She loved painting landscapes, animals and portraits. In 1970, she opened up Velma’s Quality shop where she made frames. Years later, she helped start White River Decorative Artists Club, where others would gather to share their artistic techniques. She loved to read newspapers, she would read 5-6 per day cover to cover. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and working her flower garden where she grew roses, geraniums and petunias. It was always a picture perfect setting, as her husband took care of the yard and she tended the flower beds.
She began her working career at Seymour Woolen Mill, where she worked for a year and a half. She then moved to the shirt factory in Seymour. Next she worked at US Shoe Corp in Crothersville. She started as a packer and worked her way up to sewing. She was so talented at sewing; she became a top stitcher, being paid by piece work. In 1963, she retired to raise her family. In 1980, she reentered the work force at Sylvania, where she worked for 17 years and 3 months, before retiring in 1998. At Sylvania, she earned perfect attendance, having never missed a day during her entire employment there.
She is survived by her children, Mark Wayne (Carol Robbins) Bobb, Patricia L. (Todd) Murphy and Rebecca S. (Tony) Capes; grandchildren, Sara, Breanna, Marissa, Markus, Thomas and Logan Bobb, Nathan and Miranda Murphy; brothers, Marvin Disbro, Melvin Disbro, Charles Disbro and William Disbro, Jr.; and sisters, Bonnie Tarter, Yvette Wagner and Freeda Perkinson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Louise Meadors, Jessie May Walker, and identical twin Thelma Wessel.
