Victoria Eleonore (Hammel) Sterling, 87 of Seymour, Indiana passed away peacefully with her family on Sunday March 15, 2020.
Victoria was born in Pirmasens, Germany to the late Robert and Marta (Kunz) Hammel.
Victoria married Reginald “Dean” Sterling in Germany; he preceded her in death on September 20th, 2003. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She retired from Sylvania / Valeo.
Victoria is survived by her children Diana Schrader (David Perkins) Mike (Jill Linnemeier Sterling) Debbie DeVault, Pamela Stammer (Philip Reinhart) Erick Sterling, Christel Sterling (George Reynolds) 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Volker Hammel, Udo Hammel; and one sister, Heidrun Tschan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Louise Empel, step son Steve Sterling and granddaughter Erica Sterling Bowman.
Victoria will be remembered as a loving mother to all, she was known in town as the little lady with the German accent. She enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. She was a passionate artist, known as Tori, she enjoyed painting and loved giving her art away to family and friends. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. She taught pottery at the Southern Indiana Center of the Arts and enjoyed helping young ones and adults create one of a kind pieces of pottery. She had a gift to talk and didn’t know a stranger.
The family wishes to give their appreciation to the Lutheran Nursing Home staff, the nurses of Hospice care and Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
Due to the ongoing national health emergency, the family has chosen a private graveside service. A celebration of her life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
