Virginia “Ginny” E. Smith

July 15, 1930 - October 28, 2014

Mrs. Virginia E. (Ginny) Smith, 84, of Seymour, passed away October, 28, 2014 under the wonderful caring staff at The Crossings of Seymour.

Born July 15, 1930 in Taylorsville KY, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Rachel (Jewell) Nation.

In 1964 in Seymour, IN at the Seymour Christ Temple Church she married Robert L. Smith. She was life time member of the Eagles ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She was of the Pentecostal faith. Ginny was a production worker at Talon for 22 years. She loved to dance, fish and especially loved her family.

Ginny is survived by her husband of 50 years Robert, daughter Bobbie (Bill Harris) Brenner, son Jeff (Diane) Smith and grandchildren: Linda (Stephen) Coons Garrett, Teresa Coons, William Coons, Patrick Fitch, Stephanie (JD) Jones, Gretchen Brenner Davis, Cory Brenner, Ben Smith, Leah (Rob) Perky, Mason (Stacy) Killion and several great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Lois DeZarn, son Thomas Chester Foster and daughters Rebecca Coons and Joyce Foster.

Funeral services will be held at Voss Chapel on Saturday at 10:30 a.m with Pastor Clifton Burton officiating.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, with a Voss Dove release.

Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. and on Saturday after 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.

All arrangements have been entrusted to the caring staff of Voss Funeral Service, Monuments and Crematory.

I have so many wonderful memories of my grandma Ginny. From the big hair and cat eye glasses to watching her dance to every song. For a little woman she was larger that life, a fact anyone who knew her can attest to. She believed in living life to the fullest. Some people have the world by the tail, she had it by the tail and was just swinging it. I love you and miss you terribly already Grandma Ginny. May you dance with the angels.

You were only 32 years old when you became my Grandma, and I was blessed to love you and to be loved by you for 52 wonderful years. So many memories of times spent together full of love, laughter, and of course some really good food! I've always admired your strength, your love of people, and your youthful heart...always up for a roller coaster ride. I hope there is dancing in heaven, because then you will really be in heaven. Give my Mom a big hug and kiss from me when you see her. I will love you and miss you all the days of my life.

I worked with Jenny 16 years but knew her before that since I was a friend of Becky in school. I LOVED that woman, she was always upbeat,friendly and just a loving person. tell Bob she is probably in heaven telling jukes and laughing with my brother Chuck. My deepest sympathy to the family. I know she will be missed.

No heart breaks alone for God is always near. When a prayer is whispered God is always there to hear. When sorrow's overwhelming, He comforts tenderly. A single tear never falls that he does not hear.(Psalms 65:2) Sorry for your loss.

Wonderful lady! Sure loved it when she and Bob would join us at the river to listen to the bands. She would dance the night away. Will miss you Ginny!

I will always remember my grandmother for her love of others, her close relationships she had with her family and all the loving friends she had. Anytime we came to visit we were home.

My grandma Ginny was & will always be 1 of the most inspirational women in my life. Always full of life,giving,loving. Caring a person who truly enjoyed life and lived It to the fullest. Always putting others before hersy. Now that she Has her wings and diamonds lighting up the sky watching Over all of us . I just want to keep making her proud of the the She taught me, And I know we will be together again ðŸ'œLove and Miss you Granny You are the Best ðŸ'œ
