Mrs. Virginia M. Wilson, 93 of North Vernon passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017 in Seymour, with her family by her side. She was born on April 3, 1924 in Hart County, Kentucky to the late William C. Nichols and Helen Hensley Nichols. In February, 1973 she married Orlando J. Wilson. She was a Civil Service employee 35 years and 9 months, having worked at the Jefferson Proving Grounds, Madison, IN., Bakalar Air Force Base, Columbus, IN., the US Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District and USDA Soil Conservation Service, North Vernon, IN. Following retirement she worked part-time at Kelley’s Greenhouse for 15 years and 9 months. She served in the hospital guild for many years at Schneck Medical Center, where she served more than 1000 hours. Virginia was a member of the Reddington Christian Church and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She graduated from Deputy High School. She enjoyed clogging with her grandchildren, dancing at the North Vernon and Columbus Senior Centers and was an avid euchre player. She is survived by her children: Ray Spicer, Beverly (Raymond) Rascoe, Donald (Malinda) Spicer, and Kathi (Larry) Hendricks. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Teresa Corya, Nancy Pulsford, Mark Spicer, Beth Alexander, Jim Rascoe, Carrie Ritchison, Mary Baker, Hope Groves, Peggy Teipen, Chad Hughes, Sara Prince, Gina Blair, and Devan Spicer, 2 sisters; Helen (Roy) Stein and Geneva Love. Several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews survive, all of whom she dearly loved. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Denise Spicer, 2 infant great grandchildren, 3 sisters and 4 brothers. Funeral service will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Wednesday, October 4, at 11:00 a.m., with Scott Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday after 10 a.m. until time of service. Charitable donations may be designated to Reddington Christian Church or Schneck Hospice in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
