Mrs. Ruth Miller, 97, of Seymour, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Lutheran Community Home. She was born in Jennings County to the late Edwin and Nellie (Sprong) Phillips.
Funeral services will be held at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Monday, March 23 at 2:00 p.m. with Bob Ochs and Rev. Robin Everhart officiating. A live stream of the service will be available on the Voss & Sons Funeral Service Facebook page. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Monday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.
On April 3, 1942 in North Vernon she married C.C. Miller, Jr. who preceded her in death.
Ruth was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Springhill, FL and attended Central Christian Church in Seymour and Baptist Church in North Vernon.
A 1940 graduate of North Vernon High School she was a bookkeeper with Ochs Supply retiring after 34 years of service. Ruth had been a Guild Lady at Schneck Memorial Hospital since 1993 working in the Gift Shop. She was a member of the North Vernon Eastern Star and the Kappa Delta Phi Sorority. After her retirement she and her husband lived in Florida for a number of years. They loved to travel, and Ruth continued to travel after C.C.’s passing. Ruth liked shopping and antiquing but her greatest enjoyment was being with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Ronald “Ron” C. (Luci) Miller, Sandy Windham, Kathy (Phil) Gosser; grandchildren Jeff (Missy) Miller, Natalie Riddle, Chris Jordan, Lisa (Jeff) Richart, Todd Gosser; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Homer Phillips; and sister Hazel Phillips.
Memorials may be written to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or Central Christian Church, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
