Mrs. Vivian M. Applegate, 102 of Appleton Wisconsin and formerly of Seymour Indiana, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Heritage Woods Assisted Living in Appleton, Wisconsin.
She was born October 21, 1912, in Jeffersonville, (Clark County) Indiana, to the late Herbert A. and Cora A. Parks Becker. She moved to Seymour, (Jackson County) Indiana, in 1936 then moved to Appleton, Wisconsin, in 2002. She married Roy O. Applegate in 1932, and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1991.
Vivian was a member of Central Christian Church, Seymour, Indiana, since 1939 and had attended First Congregational United Church of Christ in Appleton, Wisconsin since 2002.
She was formally trained as a beautician. She was a charter member of the Elk’s Lodge Auxiliary in Seymour; former Church Deaconess, CWF Member and served on several church committees.
Vivian deeply loved her family and treasured her wide circle of friends. She has always been there for all of us and loved us unconditionally. “Thank you, Mom, for being such an amazing Mother, Mother-in-Law, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. You will be in our hearts and minds forever.”
She is survived by her children, Barbara A. Hensley, Cocoa, Florida, and Mary L. Baehler (Gary) Nekoosa (Town of Rome), Wisconsin; five grandchildren: Michael (Mitzi) Hensley; Roger Hensley, Cocoa, Florida; and Susan (Eric) Christopherson, Titusville, Florida
Kristine (Matthew) Swetz, Woodbury, Minnesota and Kyle (Jaime) Baehler, Greenwich, Connecticut; four great grandchildren: Brett & Melissa Hensley, Jack & Grant Swetz; and one nephew, James Becker, of Jeffersonville, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and one brother.
Arrangements are pending for a Memorial Service at The Heritage, in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Burial will take place on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, IN
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses, CNAs and entire staff at The Heritage Retirement Community and Heritage Woods Assisted Living for their excellent care and compassion throughout the 13 years that Vivian resided there. The family also extends a special thank you to the ThedaCare at Home Hospice Care Team for their compassionate care throughout the past year.
