Mr. William “Bill” Gene Trimpe, 79, of Columbus, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018 peacefully in his sleep. He was born in Waymansville, Indiana on April 15, 1939 to the late Emil H. and Ruth (Arnholt) Trimpe.
Funeral services will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at St. Peter Lutheran Church Waymansville (11750 W County Road 930 S, Columbus, IN 47201) on Monday, May 21 at 11 am with Rev. Walt Ullman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery Waymansville with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Sunday from 2-5 pm and on Monday at the church from 10 am until time of service.
He was a very active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church Waymansville all of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired as a salesman from Quality Mill in Columbus after 42 years of service. Following retirement, Bill & Vicki lived in Tucson, Arizona for 6 months a year. He loved his family and enjoyed many family get-togethers over the years. He also loved his friends and had many enjoyable pheasant hunting trips with his dad, brother-in-law and friends. On June 15, 1974 at Lutheran Lake Chapel, he married Vicki Comstock; she survives. Bill loved boating and he and Vicki lived on Lutheran Lake for many years. He enjoyed photography and skeet shooting. He was a member of a Mustang Club. He was known for never forgetting a joke.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Trimpe; son, Troy (Shari) Trimpe; stepsons, Barry (Laura) Fite and Brent (Gen) Fite; grandchildren, Karissa (Darrell) Walton, Tiffany (Taylor) Knorr, Tyler Cook, Amanda (Josh) Sipes, Megan Murphy, Annaliese Fite and Zach Fite; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Phil (Margie) Trimpe and Tim (Sandy) Trimpe; sister, Dorcas (Jim) Frische; and several nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Robbin Cook; and sister, Cynthia Trimpe.
