Woodrow DeZarn passed away on Thursday June 26, 2014 at Schneck Medical Center.
Woodrow was born on February 8, 1931 in Salem Indiana to William and Daisy I. (Hensley) DeZarn. On June 24, 1950 he married Lois F. Nation in Seymour.
He was a member of Trinity Pentecostal Chapel. He worked on steam engines at New York Central Railroad in Beach Grove prior to going to Arvin’s in Seymour in 1950 where he was a floor inspector when the plant closed in 1975. In 1976 he went to work at Cummins in Columbus until his retirement in 1986. He was a salesman at Poynter’s and enjoyed doing dealer trades for his friend, Bob Poynter.
An avid Sprint car fan, you could always find him at the racetracks on Friday and Saturday nights. He watched Jeff Gordon go from racing sprint cars to NASCAR.
He enjoyed buying/selling his homes, trading cars and watching NASCAR.
He is survived by his son, Woodrow “Woody” (LaDonna) DeZarn Jr, of Seymour, daughters Patricia A. Fish of Seymour and Jennifer S. (David) Baxter of Springville IN.
Grandchildren: Scott W. (Shannon) DeZarn, Michael (Ashley) Fish and Melissa Morris.
Great-grandchildren: Scott W. DeZarn Jr., Ashley K. DeZarn, Trey Morris, Trenton Morris and Cindy Morris.
Sisters: Wanda Wise of Cincinnati, Ohio and Ann (Jack) King of Mooresville, IN.
Also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois (beloved wife of 55 years), brothers: Billie, James, Goffary, Charles, Ben and sisters Helen Bowling and Maude Smith.
Funeral Services will be held at Voss Chapel on Tuesday July 1, 2014 at 2:30 PM with Brother Larry Dalton officiating.
Family and Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Monday June 30, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM or on Tuesday after 1:00 pm until the time of service.
Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Memorials may be written to Trinity Pentecostal Chapel or Hospice of Schneck Medical Center.
