Willard Rose

April 4, 1939 - April 20, 2016

Willard Rose, 77 of Freetown, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at his home in Freetown.

He was born April 4, 1939, in Wolfe County, Kentucky, the son of the late Courtney and Nora (King) Rose.

He married Della Fee who preceded him. He married Wanda S. Mitchell in 1979, and she preceded him on August 13, 2006.

Willard could fix anything. He was a “jack of all trades” who loved working on cars and tinkering with anything that needed to be fixed.

He is survived by his children, Debbie Richart, Carol (Tim) Neal, David Rose, Katherine (Lanny) Smith, Rachel (Doug) South, and Charlotte Davidson; nine grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews..

He was preceded in death by his parents, both his wives and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Voss Chapel. Burial will follow at Houston Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather at Voss Chapel on Saturday after 12 Noon until time of service.

Memorial checks may be written to Willard’s dog, Sparky’s Caretaker Fund.

Arrangements were made through Voss & Sons Funeral Service, Seymour, Indiana.

Will was a wonderful uncle. He did so much for so many people and asked for nothing in return. He was comforting and reassuring in times of need.

My dad was a wonderful father He would do anything for anyone I remember one time we was coming back from a family reunion in Kentucky and a deer ran right out onto the interstate and got hit by a car in front of us and the car kept going for about 100 yards before stopping Rest in peace dad I will love you forever

Dad was a wonderful man. He would do and help anybody out. He will be missed so much. Love you Dad!

Our most hearfelt sympathy to all of Uncle Willard's family. He was a wonderful part of the Rose family and will be missed. Wish we had all lived closer together, but we were blessed every time we got together. Those memories cannot be erased. Rest in Peace, Uncle Willard. May God bless the family through their time of sorrow.

I want to express my condolences to Mr. Rose's family. I met him shortly after I acquired some property next to his. He was friendly to me and told me some history of his life and times in the Freetown area. I met Sparky and could tell they had a great friendship. My wife Karen and I spoke with him the Saturday before Easter and had another short visit. I was saddened to hear of his passing but I'm glad our paths crossed. Respectfully, John Brock
