Alan Hunterman

June 26, 1958 - February 17, 2016

Mr. Alan Charles Hunterman, 57, of Santa Barbara, California, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016. He grew up in Seymour, Indiana, and attended Seymour High School.

Born June 26, 1958, in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of the late Dorothy Mae (Vance) Hunterman and Charles R. Hunterman, now of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, who survives.

Besides his father, he is survived by his brother, Brian (Paula) Hunterman, of Cincinnati; sister, Elaine (Steve) Ampfer, of Highland Heights, Kentucky; stepbrother, Dr. Mark (Kathie) Greaves, stepsister, Sandee (Paul) Ramsey, stepsister-in-law, Pam Greaves Anderson, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Eddie Lee Greaves Hunterman and stepbrother, Carl Greaves.

Visitation will take place at Voss Funeral Home in Seymour, Indiana, on Saturday, February 27 from 2-4pm. A private burial will take place at a future date at Riverview Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Alan Hunterman was a good man, a loyal friend, and a kind and innocent soul. I knew him in the late 1990's and early 2000's in Isla Vista, CA. Alan was an adventurer and a peacemaker. He had traveled with his beloved German Shepherd mix, Crystal, by bicycle and trailer up and down the California coast. Then he made his home by the beach in Isla Vista where he enjoyed the beautiful weather and the company of many friends. He spoke of his love for his family in Indiana. Alan was well known in the UCSB community. He is missed and will not be forgotten.

I am so sorry to hear about Alan"s death. When Dorothy and I worked side by side we helped each other cope with parenthood. I still miss her.
