Albert Ray Skaggs arrived at his final destination on Sunday, March 16, 2014. “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Psalm 37-23”
Albert lived his life for God, family, and service to mankind. He was a 1964 graduate of Brownstown high school. He was a licensed minister with the United Pentecostal Church International for over 45 years. He ministered locally and worldwide. He served as an assistant pastor at Brownstown First Pentecostal Church. He served in multiple leadership roles at The Tabernacle in Seymour, IN including Foreign Missions Ambassador. He served on the executive board of New Beginnings, an adoption agency in Tupelo, MS. He also served on the board of Urshan Graduate School of Theology, St. Louis, MO and on the Board of Advisors of IUPUC. He is the owner and president of Skaggs Builders, Inc., A & G Leasing, Inc., A & R Rental, Inc., and Skaggs Builders Development, LLC. He was the inventor of the Turtl Access Crawl Space System. During their 37 years in business Skaggs Builders has been responsible for numerous residential developments and construction of hundreds of homes in southern Indiana. He used his knowledge of building to facilitate a national Church In A Day program, responsible for the construction of multiple churches throughout North America. Further, his success in business allowed him to be instrumental in supporting numerous world mission projects and hundreds of missionaries.
Survivors include: his wife of 40 years, Gayle Ann (Allman) Skaggs; son Andrew married to Darci Farris Skaggs and granddaughters Grace and Claire; daughter Rebekah Skaggs Mains married to Jonathan Mains; grandson Drew and granddaughters Sophia and Alaina Mains; sisters Shirley (Lester) Arthur, Sue (Kenny) Noble, Sheila (Michael) Lucas; brothers Bill (Jeanie) Skaggs, Glen (Randa) Skaggs, Terry Skaggs, Eddie (Carol) Skaggs, and Michael (Angie) Skaggs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lester, Joe David, Leonard, and Ronnie Skaggs, his wife Carolyn Skaggs and infant son Timothy Ray Skaggs.
His pastor, Larry Arrowood will officiate his going home celebration at 11:00 am Thursday at The Tabernacle in Seymour, Indiana. Assisting Brother Arrowood will be Brother Steve Drury, Brother Paul Perkins, Brother Rob Rodenbush and Brother Dennis Allman.
Family and friends may call at The Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle, 301 Indianapolis Avenue, Seymour on Wednesday, March 19th from 2:00-8:00 PM and at The Tabernacle on Thursday March, 20th after 9:00 AM until time of funeral service.
Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour with committal by Pastor Larry Arrowood.
