Alfred Harting

Alfred J. Harting, 85, of Seymour, IN passed away December 23, 2014 at Covered Bridge Nursing Facility.

Born April 14, 1929, in Elwood, IN he was the son of the late Alfred J. and Mary (Hancock) Harting.

On August 12, 1951, in Toronto, Canada he married Lila (Hossie) Harting whom survives.

Mr. Harting was very devoted to his family. Alfred was of the Methodist faith. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Harting was an educator in the classroom for 15 years and a principal in Perry Township Elementary Schools, Indianapolis, IN for 30 years.

Mr. Harting is survived by his wife; daughter, Pamela (Brian) Snook-Tidd; three grandchildren; Victoria Snook, Katherine Snook and Alexander Tidd; brothers, Gerald Harting and Jerry Harting; and a sister, Louise Miller.

Mr. Harting was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Archie Harting, Frank Harting and Raymond Harting and a sister, Bonnie Harting.

Funeral services will be held at Voss Chapel on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Steve Barrett officiating.

Visitation will be held at Voss Chapel on Friday, December 26, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM or Saturday, December 27, 2014 after 12:00 PM until time of service.

Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery.
