Allen Havlik, age 85, of Seymour, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Schneck Medical Center.
Allen was born on September 1, 1938, in Kimball, South Dakota to the late Frank Havlik and Anna Katharine Karel Havlik Larkowski. As a young child, Allen’s family moved to Ravenna, NE where he was a farmer of award-winning, purebred sheep before enlisting in the US Navy, proudly serving his country for four years in Naval Airborne Electronics. In January 1960, he married Judy Wilke Havlik of Ravenna, NE. Allen and Judy moved to Seymour, IN in 1969 to open Big Blue Stores, a farm implement and supply store. In the early 1980’s, Allen and his business partner started Indiana County Data Service, Inc. in Columbus, IN. In the early 1990’s he worked for Swifty Oil Company as an accountant before retiring in 2016. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and treasurer of the finance committee. Allen was a man of God, a family man, a Nebraskan farmer at heart and a true Navy man that loved his country. Throughout his life, he was hardworking, a provider, a protector, committed, methodical and strong. He was an avid woodworker, refinisher and restorer for over 60 years.
Survivors include his wife of over 63 years, Judy Wilke Havlik; four children Jill Havlik Robbins, Jeffrey Havlik (Kat), Jocelyn Havlik Bonaventura Zilahenda (Gerald) and Jonathan Havlik; five grandchildren, Daniel Taskey, Nicholas Taskey (Jenny), Andrew Taskey (Caelen), Brandon Taskey (Whitney) and Eliana Bonaventura Zilahenda; six great-grandchildren, Rory, Allyson, Alec, Mayvis, Hudson and Holdyn Taskey.
Funeral services for Allen Havlik will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 11:00AM at Voss and Sons Funeral Service and Crematory. The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 9:00AM until the time of service. Military honors and burial will immediately follow at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.
