Bennett M. Richman, 77, of Hayden passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born September 6, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Harry and Pearl (Berg) Richman.
On January 25, 1963, he married Mary Whitcomb who survives.
Ben was a graduate of Springfield Township High School in Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He had been employed at the MRI Agency in Pennsylvania, the CAMA Agency in New Jersey. He was the owner of the Hayden Market, had worked for the North Vernon Plain Dealer and Sun, and had also been employed with Modern Woodmen Insurance, and CVS Pharmacy. Ben was a member of the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, the Literacy Council, REACT group, Spencer Township Fire Department, Hayden Historical Museum, and the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society. Ben loved spending time outside, fishing, bowling and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Philip Richman, Elizabeth “Beth” (Don) Walker; grandchildren, Heather (Jedadiah) McCrory, Zachary Farris, Sabrina and Savanna Richman; great-grandchildren, Cainen and Audren McCrory, Bridyn and Bristol Branum; brothers, Steven and Larry Richman, his aunt, Florence Berg, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents and his great-grandson, Keghan McCrory.
Private Graveside Services were conducted by the caring staff of Voss & Sons Funeral Service with Rabbi Louis Weiss officiating.
A Celebration of Ben’s life will be held at Hayden Museum Pavilion on Sunday, November 15, 2015, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers that Memorials be given in memory of Ben to the Hayden Museum or the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society.
