Cathy Pollert Klaes

March 29, 1961 - June 4, 2016

Cathy Pollert Klaes, 55, of Seymour, passed away with her family by her side at Schneck Medical Center on Saturday, June 4, 2016.
She was the daughter of Clarence F. and Janice Pollert who both preceded her in death and Karen Pollert who survives her.
Cathy was a Senior Account Representative for The Republic Newspaper in Columbus since April of 1986.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, Tri Kappa, Leadership Jackson County and volunteered with the Distinguished Young Women Program in Seymour. She was a graduate of Seymour High School and Indiana University. Cathy was known for her positive outlook on life, generosity and always leaving a lasting impression on those around her. She loved spending time with her family and was recently enjoying helping plan Mia’s upcoming wedding. She was a proud CiCi to her new grandson, Conrad.
She is survived by her mom, Karen, daughters, Mackenzie (Nick) Eddy and Mia (Jacob McCall) Klaes, and a grandson, Conrad Nicholaus Eddy whom she adored. She is also survived by a brother, Matthew L. Pollert, two sisters, Lori (Tim) Pollert-Brady and Paige M. (Jim) Hoffman, several nieces and nephews, and her lifelong friend, Priscilla Wischmeier.
Visitation will be at Voss Chapel on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, from 3 to 7 PM with a celebration service of fond remembrances beginning at 7. Friends and family will be encouraged to share their favorite memories of Cathy at this time. Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 1 to 2 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Funeral service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Wednesday at 2 PM with Rev. Ralph Blomenberg officiating.
Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers Cemetery.
Memorial checks may be written to the C.B. Hess Memorial 4-H Scholarship Fund or the Julie A. Moore G.I. Cancer Research Fund.

Cathy was so full of energy and life. When I first met her as we both worked at The Republic, she was pregnant with Mackenzie. I still remember her zipping around the office, full of enthusiasm. I can't imagine what a difficult time this is for her girls and the rest of her family. Praying for comfort and peace for all who loved her.

You will be missed greatly, Cathy. She always had a smile to share and gave you the ability to see the best in life. Her smile was contagious, as well as, her passion for life.

My sincerest prayers are with Cathy's family, friends, and loved ones. I am so thankful that I was blessed enough to work with Cathy and get to know her. She managed our business account on behalf of The Republic for many years. She immediately brightened my day when she came to visit; she was always full of life, full of smiles, and she carried herself with such dignity and grace - the kind you don't forget. I will never forget the impact that Cathy has had on me.

My thoughts are with Cathy's family during this time. I am devastated, but I take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. She will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. I will remember Cathy as a most upbeat and positive person, ever cheerful, and always helpful. She was such a lovely lady.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Cathy's passing. I first met Cathy in 1982 when she was introduced to me as my "Sorority Mom" during my Freshman year at I.U. Her energy, positive spirit, and bubbly personality were immediately evident. I paid her a surprise visit at her office back in 1996, and she hadn't changed a bit. Facebook allowed us to stay in touch in recent years, and it was clear she was unbelievably proud of Mackenzie and Mia. Her spirit lives on in all of us.

So, so sad. Another Earthly Angel taken home.

I am so sorry to hear about Kathy. My wife Sandy Rhodes worked at The Republic with her for 20 years and i can't remember a single time she didn't have a smile on her face and she was always in a cheerful mood. She was a dear and trusted friend to my wife for a lot of years. Prayers to Kathy's family and especially her girls. May peace and comfort find you in the days ahead.

For some time now, my thoughts and prayers have been with Cathy, her family and dear friends. May God be with you now and send His blessings to all of you now as you grieve.

I just did a Google search for Cathy and learned of her passing. I had heard Cathy had metastatic disease several months ago and had been meaning to get in touch with her. I worked for several years with Cathy, after first meeting her as a co-worker at The Republic. She registered guests at my wedding. She was always energetic, sweet and fun to be around. I left employment at The Republic, but we stayed in touch. I was diagnosed with breast cancer the same year as Cathy and met her as we were both getting radiation treatments at CRH. I know that her children and her family meant a great deal to her. She will also be greatly missed by many friends, including "the fallen eagles," as we called ourselves. She attended reunions of an old gang of previous Republic employees who worked together in the late 1980s.
