Charles “Buzz” Ray

August 8, 1951 - September 4, 2016

Mr. Charles “Buzz” Ray, 65 of Scipio passed away, Sunday, September 4, 2016 at home, peacefully.

He was born on August 8, 1951 in Seymour, the son of the late Charles B. and Maxine B. (Durham) Ray.

After graduating from Jennings County High School, Buzz got the best birthday present he could receive on August 8, 1970. He married his wife of now 46 years, Joyce Ann Caudill.

He attended Easyville Pentecostal Church and was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion, V.F.W., and Jefferson County Conservation Club. Buzz enjoyed watching Nascar, sitting on the back porch and being in the woods. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren.

Buzz liked to work and provide for his family. He retired after 32 years with Cummins Engine Company. After he retired, he could not just quit so he worked for Ebbing Auto, Erler Industry and Baurle Construction. He always believed in giving an honest day’s work for those he worked for.

Buzz will be greatly missed by his wife, two daughters: Eugenia “Gina” (Anthony) Maberry and Holly (Brian) Boldery; grandchildren: Brett and Kylie Barger, Briar and Kennedy Boldery, and Conner Maberry; three great-grandchildren: Rylee Short, Benjamin Barger and Rugar Craig; brother, Jon S. Ray, sister, Rhonda Kay (Steve) Ray-Scott, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Milton Ray, and two sisters: Sharon Strong and Candy Sowder.

Memorial service will be at Voss Chapel on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., with Sister Jean Pogue officiating.

Friends and family may gather from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Voss and Sons Funeral and Cremation Services.

Memorial checks may be written to the Leukemia Foundation.

Arrangements were made through Voss & Sons Funeral and Crematory Service, Seymour, Indiana.

buzz I will miss you , you were a wonderful big brother

You will truly be missed by me and a lot of other people. Although none of us here wanted you to go, but now Uncle Buzz, are flying high with Grandpa and Grandma ( Your Mom and Dad).

We were so sorry to see that Buzz had passed. Bill was remembering back in the day when he and Buzz were always working on some kind of a project. He helped Bill with alot of different things from a new cement driveway to rebuilding a motor for his truck. Sorry that we hadn't seen him for such a long time. He will be sorely missed.
