Charles L. “Mousie” Hines, 82 of Seymour, Indiana, “crossed the checkered flag into Heaven” on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 10, 1934, in Jennings County, Indiana, the son of the late Melvin and Edith (Glasson) Hines.
He married Joan L. Woodruff on May 23, 1953, in Seymour, Indiana, who survives.
Mousie retired from Cummins in 1991 and was dog catcher for the city of Seymour from 1969 to 1979. He dearly loved his grandchildren and dirt track auto racing, cutting wood, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the F.O.E. Area 655 and of Central Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, children, Vicki Jo Fields, Richard “Rick” (Janice) Hines, Donald (Jan) Hines, Wendy “Sues” Blackwell; eight grandchildren, Alisha (Greg) Roberts, Jeremy (Carrie) Hines, Joe Hines, Aaron Fields, Jacoby (Kristi) Hines, Samantha Huls, Ryan Hines and Tom Hines, eight great-grandchildren, Tyla Roberts, Emma Hines, Lucas Hines, Kendra Fields, Ashtyn Allman, Titus Roberts, Ella Hines and Haylee Hines; brother, Lloyd (June) Hines, sisters, Lillian (Don) Boaz, Marilyn (Ron) Boardman, and Margaret (Mike) Kiemeyer; and several nieces and nephews.
Mousie was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lawrence Hines, and sister, Lois King.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, March 21, 2016, at Central Christian Church, please use Westgate entrance. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather at Voss Chapel on Sunday from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and after 10:00 am until time of service at the church.
Memorial checks may be written to the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society and the Lupus Foundation of America.
