Charles Ray Seaman, 88, formally of Parkersburg, WV who currently resided with his daughter in Seymour, IN passed away December 21, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born September 3, 1926 in Reedy, WV, he was the son of the late Oda Hoyt and Opal Sylvestus (Tennant) Seaman.
In 1948, Charles married Lillian “Geraldine” Beach in Parkersburg, WV who preceded him in death on December 4, 2010.
Charles was a member of the Seymour Church of Christ, formally a member of the Sunrise Church of Christ in Parkersburg, WV. Mr. Seaman retired from Dupont in Washington, WV in 1979. Charles volunteered at two different hospitals in Parkersburg, keeping a busy schedule. He was a member of the Parkersburg Clown Club for 30 years and was known as “Grampus.” Charles was also a volunteer with Citizens Patrol for the Parkersburg Police Department for a number of years. He was a WWII veteran, having served in the Merchant Marines.
He is survived by his daughters; Kathy (Charles) Ayers, Amanda (James) Neal and Karen Bishop; eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Charles is also survived by his brother, Bob (Betty) Seaman.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Bill Seaman and 2 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg, WV, at a later date.
Memorials may be given to Southern Indiana Center of the Arts or Red Sky Rescue.
