Dan Lewis

May 16, 1948 - April 16, 2015

Dan Lewis Jr. of Seymour age 66, passed away at his home on April 16, 2015. He was born on May 16, 1948 in Manchester, KY to Dan Lewis Sr. and Elsie (Parker) Lewis. On June 26, 1970 at the Seymour First Baptist Church, he married Janet Hall. Dan was a member of the US Army, and served his country with pride. Upon his return from service he worked in maintenance at Arvins for 33 years. Once he retired, he was able to spend his time working in his garden which he enjoyed. Tending the garden and working with his hands was always a skill that his friends and family will remember him by. Much the same, he loved to fish and spend time outdoors. Most dear to him was the time he spent with his grandchildren, Kirstyn, Taylor, and Brittany. Dan attended First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, two children Rob (Kristye) Lewis and Trish Lett, his grandchildren Kirstyn and Taylor Lewis and Brittany Lett. Also, his brothers Kenny Lewis and Jerry Lewis, his sisters Geneva Lewis, Burnetta Trotter, Charlotte Keefer, Jean Post, Jeanetta Montgomery, and Alma Boknecht.

Dan is preceded by his parents, one brother Ed Lewis, 2 sisters Louise Hensley and Cecelia Steele, and one granddaughter Brandy Lett.

Funeral service will be held at Voss Chapel on Saturday at 1:30 PM with the Rev. Larry Tingle officiating.
Family and friends may call at Voss Funeral Service, Voss Chapel at 316 N. Chestnut St. on Saturday after 10 AM until the time of service.
Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites being conducted by VFW, American Legion, Korean and Vietnam Veterans all of Seymour.

Family asks that memorials be designated to Reins to Recovery.

I remember when you was in high school. We was staying at grandmas .. You would come home all pumped up after a basketball game .. I remember your wise words and kind words said to me as a child growing up ! You was a great uncle named after a great man !!! Fly with the angels

My Uncle Dan my was a HUGE part of my childhood. Riding my first horse, playing horse. Swming, fishing, roasting marshmallows. I think I got my love of fireworks from him! Soaking cat tails in gas and making torches. The best green beans and tomatoes around! When we used to have the party at their house before the reunion. I think of him every time I eat stuffed peppers for some reason. The weekend card games. The time he took a hose to my Uncle Jr! When I cut my knee and he cleaned me up, and kept me calm. Watching Sammy Terry, and him trying to scare us. The list goes on, and on! He will be missed!

Uncle Dan I love you and have so many wonderful memories whether it was you coming to Ohio for the weekend to play euchre with grandma and grandpa or me coming to Indiana with grandma and grandpa to visit you and your family. I know grandma Louise is by your side in heaven smiling from ear to ear .

Dan: I will always remember your gentle manner and love of working with young people both on and off the ball field. I always valued your advice and I know the girls did too. Those are fond memories I'll always treasure. A man is measured by the love he leaves behind, and you certainly have left many treasures in this life and are enjoying those treasures you laid with our Lord in Heaven.
