Derek James Miller, 24, of Columbus, passed away early Saturday morning, March 21, 2015, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Born March 2, 1991, Derek was the son of Michael K. and Stephanie (Trinkle) Miller, who survive. Derek is also survived by his sister, Shawna Miller; his maternal grandparents, Jim and Carol Trinkle and paternal grandparents, Bill and Veronica Miller.
Derek was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour. He was a 2010 graduate of Columbus North High School, Columbus, Indiana. He was employed in the trades as a pipefitter and plumber with local Union 440; having completed three years of his apprenticeship. Derek was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Seymour.
Derek had a love of the outdoors, especially fishing. His dogs and extra large tropical fish aquarium were a source of enjoyment, but his greatest source of enjoyment and satisfaction were found in the people around him. Derek passed the time hanging out with his friends or more importantly hanging out with his family. He liked to “pick on” his sister. Derek will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him and whom he loved.
The Service of Christian Burial for Derek will be 3:30 PM, Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, with the The Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, The Rev. James Rodriguez and Vicar Daniel Merz officiating; burial will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Seymour.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 1:30 PM until the time of the Service in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour.
