Dolores Anna Maschino, 95 passed away peacefully, Saturday April 11, 2015 in the Lutheran Community Home, Seymour.
Dolores was born July 23, 1919 in rural Jennings County, Indiana; the fourth child of the twelve children born to the late, Frank and Mary (nee Vogel) Maschino.
Dolores was baptized and confirmed in Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Four Corners, Indiana.
In the midst of the Great Depression, Dolores moved with her parents and siblings from rural Jennings County to Seymour, where she was a 1937 graduate of Shields High School. Dolores worked five years for the Shirt Factory; then during World War II, she was employed with Arvin Industries. While employed with Arvin Industries, Dolores decided to further her education by enrolling in the Seymour Business College, where she studied accounting. After 35 years of service, she retired in 1981 from the accounting department of the Indiana Telephone Company/Contel.
After retirement, Dolores enjoyed travelling around southern Indiana, especially going with her sister Helen to visit their Aunt, the late, Sister Mary Grace Vogel, OSB at the convent in Ferdinand, Indiana. She was fond of going to different Catholic parish festivals in search of good fish and broasted chicken. She also was often an on-call babysitter to her many nieces and nephews and their families.
While herself having never married, she was the major conduit for keeping family records and photos in a large volume she simply called: “The Maschino-Vogel Story”. This volume makes its rounds to the various venues for the bi-annual week-long Maschino family reunion.
Dolores was a faithful member of Saint Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour; for most of her life she was a daily communicant. She was a member and various office holder of the Legion of Mary and a past member of the Daughters of Isabella.
Dolores is survived by her sisters: Dorothy Hess, Loretta Henkle, Angela Hill, and Mildred Thomas; a brother: Marvin (Ladonna) Maschino; sister-in-law: Pat Maschino and brother-in-law: Ken Kvaal; 41 nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
