Dolores Peters, age 89, of Seymour, IN, formerly of Brooksville, FL and Export, PA, passed away peacefully January 24, 2024. She was born November 7, 1934, in Goheenville, PA.
She was the daughter of the late Lon and Grace McAfoose. On November 23, 1951, she married the love of her life Richard Peters. Their union lasted 58 years until his death in 2009.
Dolores loved being a wife and mother. She was baptized along with her husband as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1966 and loved sharing her faith with others. She was a jokester and never met a stranger. Dolores was known for always having a positive attitude, making delicious potato salad, apple pie and potato soup which she lovingly shared with others. She enjoyed unique decorative animals, flowers, seasonal pictures and things that reflected God’s creation. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her son, Brent (Madlyn) Peters of Export, PA, daughter, Cynthia Horner of Latrobe, PA, and son Gary (Tami) Peters of Seymour, IN; seven grandchildren, Michael Peters, Jennifer Morris, Chrissy Flaherty, Anita Gross, Brian Horner, Benjamin Horner and Andrew Davidson; and 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings, Robert McAfoose, Margaret McAfoose Master, Florence McAfoose Dinger, Charles Dean McAfoose, Harry Dale McAfoose and Lester McAfoose.
The family would like to say a special thank you to all the EMTs, nurses, doctors and Schneck Hospice who cared for our dear mother. Also, thanks to many in the community who have expressed love and support during this difficult time. She truly loved all of you.
Dolores requested no services. Voss and Sons Funeral Service and Crematory has been entrusted with cremation. Burial will be at Twin Vally Cemetery, Delmont, PA at a later date.
