Donald Wayne Borcherding, age 92, of Seymour, passed away at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
Donald was born on June 5, 1931, in Seymour, IN to the late Martin H. Borcherding and Ella K. (Lahne) Borcherding. In 1958, he married the love of his life, Rosamond “Jill” McQuerry, who preceded him in death in 2002. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force serving in the Korean Conflict. He worked for over 20 years at Decatur Mold Tool & Engineering, Inc in North Vernon as a tool and die maker. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a Lifetime member of the VFW and The American Legion.
Survivors include his daughter, Gerri Lucas Smith (Art) of Bowling Green, KY; grandchildren, Chris Griffith (Lori), Wendi Johnson (Benjamin), Jami Flippo (Ben) and Lanci Haswell (Blake), Sheri Gallicchio, Shaina Vinagro (Matt), John Jay Nicholson (Elle), Haley Pompeii, (Josh); great-grandchildren, Megan, Jalen, Kendra, Kaleb; Schep, Dodger, Nash, Sloan, Dixie, Jackson, Scarlett, Stevie Rue, and Jade; great-great-grandchildren, Simon and Izzy; sisters Carolyn Sue Krienke and Virginia Wessel; and brother Wendell Borcherding (Carol).
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Teresa Ann Butler, a son, Jay Nicholson, sisters, Melba Von Dielingren, Eunice Taylor, Marilyn Otte.
Funeral services for Donald will be held on Monday, December 18 at 1:00PM at Voss and Sons Funeral Service and Crematory, 316 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour, IN 47274. The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM. Burial and military honors will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
