Donald Werskey, 84 of Seymour, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at 8:24 a.m. at Schneck Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born December 4, 1930, in Vernon, Indiana, the son of the late John Werskey and Emma Simpson Werskey Heideman.
He married Betty M. Flinn on October 21, 1951, at the Cortland Christian Church by Rev. George Florence, and she survives.
He was a member of the First Wesleyan Church. He worked for Dr. Pepper Co. for 21 years, Hukill Oil Co. for 10 years, and Jackson County Bank for 10 years until he retired. He then was a greeter at Wal-Mart SuperCenter for six and a half years. He drove a Sunday School bus for the First Church of the Nazarene for 33 years.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty, his children, Mark Werskey, Bruce (Karen) Werskey and Cinda (Larry) Foist; and his grandchildren, Matthew Werskey, Gloria (Christopher) Schrader, Stacy Foist, Brittney (Aaron) Mang, Bryce Werskey and Brooke Werskey; three great-grandchildren, Dakota and Samuel Schrader, and Gabriel Hounshel; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Frank Heideman, an infant son, Dana, and three brothers, George, Paul and Richard Werskey.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Voss Chapel with Rev. Carl Ubel and Rev. Ira Holt officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Friends and family may call at Voss Chapel on Friday from 4 to 8 pm and Saturday after 9 am until time of service.
