Dorothy Jean (Higgins) McDonald, 98, of Seymour passed away on September 15, 2023, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.  Dorothy was born on June 14, 1925, in Jackson County, IN to Frank and Gertrude (Oathout) Higgins. She was a graduate of Cortland High School.  Dorothy had worked for Reliance Energy and the Jackson-Jennings County Co-Op. She was also a member of Honeytown Christian Church.  Dorothy was an avid card player, and she also liked to sew and garden.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Marshall ‘Butch” (Brenda) Isaacs and Barbara “Bobbi” (Harold) Garland; stepdaughter, Pat Roark; son-in-law, Steve Starr; eleven grandchildren: Jennifer Wells, Jeanette Sweeney, Julie (John) Taylor, Judy (Jeff) Vance, Jodi Graham, John (Stephanie) Starr, Sandra (Michael) Warren, Patrick (Barb) Garland, David (Joy) Garland, Jennifer (Derek Miller) Isaacs, Sarah Hackman; three step grandchildren: Cheryl (Danny) Engleking, Regina Parzer and Tracy Mullins; twenty-nine great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren with two on the way.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale McDonald, daughters: Vicki Sweeney and Linda Starr, son-in-law, Norval (Bud) Sweeney.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Voss & Sons Funeral Service, 316 Chestnut Street.  Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
