Douglas Steele Burkhart

Douglas Steele Burkhart, age 64, husband of Joy Logan Burkhart, passed away on
Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Schneck Medical Center.
Doug was born on April 28, 1959, in Seymour to the late John Steele Burkhart and
Delma “Dottie” Clark Burkhart. Doug was a 1977 graduate of Seymour High School and
a US Navy Veteran. He proudly served his country from 1977-1992 and achieved
the rank of Petty Officer First Class. Doug went on to work for the Seymour Parks
and Rec Department from 1998-2014 as a Maintenance Supervisor. Doug loved his
country and “bled red, white and blue”. He will be greatly missed by his family
and friends.
Survivors include his mother, Delma “Dottie” Burkhart of Seymour; wife of 30
years, Joy Burkhart, of Seymour; a daughter, Tiffany (Nate) Heisey, of
Grand Blanc, MI; sister, Beverly Rollins, of Seymour; grandchildren, Garrett and
Kaylee Heisey, of Grand Blanc, MI; one niece, Ashley Burkhart of Seymour; and
two nephews, James Burkhart of Columbus and Chris Tiemeier of Seymour.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, John Burkhart and a brother, William
Lee Burkhart.
