Elsie D. Patterson

Elsie D. Patterson, 81 of North Vernon, Indiana, went to be with our Lord and Savior Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Premier Healthcare of North Vernon.

She was born January 26, 1935, in Anderson, Indiana, the daughter of Archie and Margurite “Dolly” (Warner) Patterson She was raised by her wonderful grandparents, Fred & Luie Patterson on a farm on Hwy 50 in Holton, Indiana.

Elsie was a member of Christ Baptist Church in North Vernon. She drove in the Powder Puff Stock Car Races at Vernon Speedway and was a fierce competitor. She loved riding her motorcycle, her six boys, her little dog Frankie and most of all our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She worked at Vines Poultry in Osgood, US Shoe in Osgood for 13 years, Emge Packing in Anderson for ten years and many different jobs. She was a member of the Christ Fellowship in Shirley, Indiana, before moving to North Vernon to be with her sons.

She is survived by her sons, Lewis (Pauline) Pate, William “Billy” Hexamer, Randell “Randy” Gilland, Darryl Gilland and Michael “Mike” Gilland; 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, sisters: Margle Patterson Dorsey and Florence “Ann” Dahling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, son, James “Jimmy” Gilland, brother, Virgle Patterson and sisters: Marjorie “Mandy” Patterson and Rose McMillian.

Burial will take place in a family cemetery plot at Greendale Cemetery in Osgood, Indiana.
