Emily Ann Nolting

October 3, 1950 - June 8, 2016

Emily A. Nolting, 65 of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

She was born October 3, 1950, in Medora, Indiana, the daughter of Omer and Avanelle (Massena) Hook.

She married Harvard William “Bill” Nolting Jr. on February 4, 2006, and he survives.

Emily was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She graduated from Business College in Louisville, Kentucky in 1970. She worked at the Children’s Hospital in Louisville before coming to Schneck Medical Center where she worked for over 35 years. During her employment at Schneck, she was head secretary for George James for many years before transferring to Director of Volunteers for the last 15 years. After she retired, she continued to volunteer in the gift shop. Emily played tennis in Columbus and Spring Island, South Carolina. She enjoyed playing golf at Shadowood Golf Course.

She is survived by her husband, Bill, his children: Jeffrey (Brigette) Nolting and Suzie (Craig) Lehman; his four grandchildren: Charlie Nolting, Hillary Nolting, JD Lehman and Matthew Lehman; her two brothers: Joe (Kay) Hook and Jack (Ruth) Hook; two nieces: Jocelyn K. (Gary) Traylor and Stephanie Jo (Bruce) Countryman; two nephews: Jeffrey (Tammie) Hook and Jack Lewis (Lynne) Hook; and eight first cousins: Jerry Snook, Dian Walker, Kaye Harper, Nancy Martin, Tony Massena, Myra Sutherland and Max Sutherland.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a cousin, Judy Hook.

Funeral service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, Rev. Philip Bloch, Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez and Vicar Alex Hoffmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather at Voss Chapel on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. and at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday after 3:30 p.m. until time of service.

Memorial checks may be written to Immanuel Lutheran Church Foundation, Don and Dana Myers Cancer Center or Lutheran Community Home.

Everyone remembers where they were when the twin towers went down on 911. I was with Emily in the volunteer lounge at one of the only televisions available to employees (at that time). We stood with arms around each other as we watched when the 2nd tower was hit and fell. At happier times, I will always remember Emily's bright smile and her laugh. We shared many cups of afternoon coffee and traded stories of what was happening in our day. She was very easy to be with and enjoy life. I will cherish the friendship that we had always.

Emily auch a special lady; always a smile ready to hear about your day and family. Always a positive outlook on life no matter what she was going through. I will miss her. Prayers and hugs to her family.

I worked with Emily at Schneck Memorial Hospital, she was always friendly and nice to everyone. So sad.
