Mrs. Evelyn Hackman Jaynes, 88 of Seymour, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born February 11, 1927, in Seymour, Indiana, the daughter of the late Theodore Henry Albert and Martha Duwe Hackman.
She married Donald Charles Jaynes on July 11, 1948, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and he preceded her September 17, 2008.
Evelyn was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour. She spent her life farming and as a homemaker. Her greatest joy was her family, and she cherished their time together. She loved to cook, playing volleyball, watching her grandchildren play sports especially in competitions, watching football on Sundays, and planting corn “in a straight row”.
She is survived by her children, Yvonne (Cleo) Willhite, Dennis (Sherry Scott) Jaynes, Kristine (Richard) Schepman, Steven (Jane) Jaynes, Edward (Janet) Jaynes, Jackie (John) Wienhorst, and Jennifer (Brian Wiseman) Jaynes; seven grandchildren, Greg (Angela) Schepman, Drew (Lindsey) Schepman, Thea (Chadd) Wehmiller, Kassi, Colt, and Amos Wienhorst, and William Jaynes; and nine great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Lorine Hackman Mankin.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, Rev. Philip Bloch, Rev. James Rodriguez and Vicar Alex Hoffmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Brownstown Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends and family may call at Voss Chapel Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at Immanuel Lutheran Church after 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
