George Benjamin Drummond, 88, passed away on December 15, 2014, in New Albany, IN.
George was born in Chicago, IL, on December 18, 1925, the son of John William “Bill” and Lillian A. (Argadine) Drummond.
On May 5, 1946, in Bloomington, IN, he married Phyllis Lou Williams, who preceded him in death May 12, 2011.
George was a member of the Community Christian Church, Seymour, IN. As a member of The Greatest Generation, he served our country in the US Navy for 26 years. He served in both WWII and the Korean War.
George is survived by his four children: Kathee (David) Wheeler, Daniel (Jacquie) Drummond, James (Paula) Drummond, Martin (Lori) Drummond; eight grandchildren: Michele (Daniel) O’Leary, Renee (Denny) Smith, Paul David (Rachel) Menard, Michael (Julia) Drummond, JR (Kristin) Drummond, Curt (Holly) Drummond, Jessica (Dave) Cornett, Melissa (Sullivan) Cook; 15 great-grandchildren: Fallon (Casey) Pennington, Timothy O’Leary, Gary (Alora) Tash, Bradley Sheppard, Harley Menard, Samuel Benjamin Drummond, Adrienne Drummond, Peyton, Riley and Dru Drummond, Boaz, Jonathan, Hannon and Hadassah Drummond, Isla Mae Cornett; 3 great great-grandchildren, Aubrey Tash, Isla and Lilian Pennington; 7 step-grandchildren and 9 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; granddaughter, Julie Ann Menard; great-grandson, Job Ross Drummond; brothers, Jack, Guy and Richard Drummond, Harold Carlson; and sisters, Mabel Kirker and Helena May.
Funeral services will be held at the First Church of God, New Albany, IN on Thursday, December 18 at 10:00 AM
Visitation will be held at the First Church of God, New Albany, IN after 9:00 AM until time of service.
Burial will take place on Thursday, December 18 at 2:00 PM at the Clear Creek Cemetery, Bloomington, IN with full military graveside rites conducted by the US Naval Funeral Honors of Indianapolis.
Memorials may be written to the Navy Relief Fund or Donor’s Choice.
