Mr. Harold H. Sweany, 91, passed away on July 16, 2014 at his home.
He was born on December 11, 1922 in Seymour, IN, the son of John H. and Ida M. (Stanfield) Sweany.
On September 14, 1946 at Reddington Christian Church, he married Ruth Ruddick.
Mr. Sweany was a member of Central Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Harold worked at Arvin Industries for over 33 years, and then went on to retire from Lear Siegler as a toolmaker. He loved spending time working with his garden, flowers and bird watching. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth; children: Marsha Fisher, Larry Sweany, and Randy Sweany; grandchildren: Jennifer (Brad) Sanders, Susan (George) Hayes, Kim (Mike) Adams, Becky (Colin) Hunter, Erin Sweany, Nathan (Kara) Sweany, Shawn Sweany, Matthew Sweany, Christopher Sweany, and Sarah Sweany; 5 great grandchildren; and a sister Bernice Ross.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son David A. Sweany, and brothers: Virgil Sweany, Raymond Sweany, and his twin Gerald Sweany.
Funeral services will be held at Voss Chapel on Saturday July 19, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Lewis Wright officiating.
Visitation will be held at Voss Chapel on Friday July 18, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM or on Saturday after 9:00 A.M. until the time of service.
Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour and a Voss Dove release.
Memorials may be written to Central Christian Church or Hospice of Schneck Medical Center.
