There’s a giant celebration in Heaven with the coming of Helen Louise (Thompson) Taylor, 84 of Seymour, Indiana. She passed away at 4:30 am on Thursday, November 3, 2016, at her home in Seymour surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was born in Freetown, Indiana, to James and Zella (Fish) Thompson on December 7, 1931.
She left home and married Roland O. Scott in 1953 who preceded her in death. She married Hubert L. Martin in 1965 who preceded her in death. She later married Deward Taylor in 1972 who preceded her in death in 1987.
She attended school at Clearspring and the Kurtz Church of the Nazarene. She went to work at Excello Shirt Factory for 21 years. She spent the last 24 years working for Area XI Agency on Aging as a homemaker. Helen loved quilting and working in her flowers.
She was blessed with four children and one niece whom she raised and loved as her own: Larry R. (Jeanette) Scott, Janet E. Jewell, Hubert L. (Jennifer) Martin, Joe A. (Rachel) Martin and Judy E. (Lewis) Hewitt; 13 grandchildren: Autumn (Scott) Pevlor, Ashlee (Scott) Dial, Adrian Scott, Kruz and Karma Hartsell, Justis Simpson, Nathan Blair, Abby Jewell, Rocky Martin, Logan Prather, Kiah Ellis, Hailey Martin and Cierra Martin; and great-grandchildren: Tatum, Kendyl and Gaddyn Spurgeon, Quentyn and Cannan Pevlor, Rikki and Jesse Dial, Tristen, Jayden and Vayda Martin, Draiden and Dawson Blair, Vada Barton, Scarlett Ellis and Reno Martin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Mary Belle, Irene and Marie; three brothers: Eugene, Robert “Bob” and Billy Dean Jr.; and her first-born granddaughter, Summer L. Spurgeon.
Funeral service will be held at Voss Chapel on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Rick Prather officiating. Burial will follow at Freetown Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather at Voss Chapel on Saturday from 4 to 8 pm and Sunday after 1:00 pm until time of service.
