Helen M. (Zumhingst) Schneider, 92, of Seymour, passed away at 4:16 p.m. on January 6, 2024, at Schneck Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 5, 1931, in Seymour and was the daughter of Herbert V. and Sophia A. (White) Zumhingst, both of whom preceded her in death. On August 1, 1959, she married Kenneth Schneider in Seymour, who preceded her in death. In her early lifetime, Helen worked at Indiana Telephone Telegraph Company, G.C. Murphy, and she owned and operated a Children’s Dress Shop in downtown Seymour for several years.
First and foremost, Helen loved her Heavenly Father and Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all her heart. She was a devoted and lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, and faithfully attended Church Services on Sundays, Church Fellowship Events and her weekly Bible Studies. She was baptized into faith as a child on July 26th, 1931 and confirmed on April 14th, 1946 with her Confirmation Verse being John 14:6. She dearly loved her Pastors, all of whom gave her so much love, care and joy.
Helen loved her family so very deeply. She is survived by one son: Ronald Kenneth (Pamela Gatte) Schneider of Seymour; three grandchildren: Chad R. (Kara) Schneider of Cincinnati, OH, Chase A. (Ambrose) Schneider of Columbus, IN, and Chaz P. Schneider of Newport, KY; and four great-grandchildren: Ava Schneider, Brixton Schneider, Isaiah Schneider and Maeve Schneider; sister-in-law, Dorothy Zumhingst; many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Mrs. Schneider was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Herbert H.C. (Dorothy-living) Zumhingst, Orville K. (Doris) Zumhingst, Ronald E. (Lois) Zumhingst; one sister: Alberta (Tom) Tracey; and one grandson, Cole Michael Schneider.

Funeral services for Mrs. Schneider will be on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, Rev. James Rodriguez, and Rev. Philip Bloch officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
