We lost a Great man and we mourn his loss. Dr. Jim taught me a great deal about being a better Naval Officer! May he rest in peace.

Sad to hear of Jim's passing. He tasked me as a young engineer to lead the BFTT program on Data Collection and Debrief. Learned a lot from him and the program. He expected you to grab ahold with little guidance and execute! I'd come to him if stuck, otherwise I was expected to plan it out and execute. Trust based on Competency. Think of him often and working wiht him. RIP Jim, one of the few last true SE's I have the opportunity to work with and learn ways from.

After all the trees we planted together, here is another that will give some shade to the next generation. Thank you, Grandfather, for everything.

How do I begin to say how sad I am to hear of Jim's passing. I have known Jim since 1975 when I started my civil service career and Jim was an engineer in the Department I worked in. Years later, in 1983, our paths crossed again when Jim selected me to be a Program Analyst on a new program he was spearheading called BFTT. Jim was my supervisor for many years on the BFTT Program, but more than that, he was a dear friend and mentor. Along the way, I met Carol and a friendship developed between us that I will forever cherish. When you had Jim as a friend, he was a friend for life. As a boss and co-worker, No one could surpass him. He always had your back. Jim was extremely well thought of and respected throughout the Federal Government for his work ethic and dedication to his job. Jim, go rest high on the mountain in the arms of Jesus. My love and respect go with you. Much love and hugs go out to Carol and Jim's family. Mary Marchais
