Jerry L. Hartsell, age 75, of Seymour, passed away at his home on Wednesday, morning, December 6, 2023.
Jerry was born on July 7, 1948, in Seymour to the late Ernest J. Hartsell, Sr and Mary Esther (Spray) Hartsell.
Jerry was a 1966 graduate of Seymour High School and a 1971 graduate of Chicago Technical College where he earned a B.S. in Engineering. He proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1971 -1977. He was employed with the City of Columbus from 1972-1980. He retired in January of 2010 after serving as the City Engineer for the City of Seymour for over 30 years. Jerry was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, a 50-year member of Knights of Columbus Council 1252, a Past Grand Knight, a Life Member of The F.O.P.-Donald M. Winn Lodge and a member of The American Legion, Post 89.
Survivors include his children, Jennifer Payton (Clint), Justin Hartsell (Heidi), Jeanette Hartsell-Scott (Larry); brother, Ernest J. Hartsell (Miki); 12 grandchildren, Autumn, Ashlee, Adrian, Tyler, Tanner, Austin, Alex, Anick, Aiden, Justis, Karma, and Kruz; 11 great-grandchildren, Queyntn, Canaan, Jesse, Xackyrn, Xyla, Jaxon, Blakeleigh, Jordan, Chandler, Wren and Hendrix; niece, Mary Jo Rivera; nephews, Jeff Hartsell and Nanioa Hartsell; great-niece, Alana Pagba; and his cat Gypsy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, the late James Hartsell.
Funeral services for Jerry will be held on Monday, December 11, at 11:00AM at Voss and Sons Funeral Service and Crematory, 316 N. Chestnut St., Seymour. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon, December 10, from 3:00PM-6:00PM and again on Monday morning from 9:00AM until the time of service. Burial and military honors will immediately follow at Riverview Cemetery.
