Joann Parr, 79 of Seymour, Indiana, passed away at 3:45 pm Monday, September 14, 2015, at her home with family.
Born in Seymour, Indiana, on August 21, 1936, she was the daughter of Virginia Crockett Wissel and Lloyd Wissel both of whom preceded her in death.
She was united in marriage to Kenny Parr on November 19, 1954, in the Central Christian Church Parsonage by the late Rev. George Florence.
Joann was a member of the 1954 graduating class of Shields High School.
Throughout her working career, she was employed in the administrative area of H. O. Canfield/Pantasote, Inc. for 33 years. Upon their plant closure, she accepted a position with the Sales Department of Central Pharmaceuticals, Inc. She enjoyed the corporate business world and assisting people with problems. Joann retired in September 2010, as the executive assistant of Kremers Urban Pharmaceuticals.
Her interests were many and varied. She enjoyed cooking and, during her younger years, hosting large family get-togethers. She tweaked recipes to suit her family’s tastes and had also developed many of her own recipes. She complied and printed a family cookbook of favorite recipes which she hared with family and a few close friends. She enjoyed crocheting and had made afghans for family and friends. She greatly enjoyed IU Basketball and followed Peyton Manning’s career.
In addition to her husband, Kenny, she is survived by children, Mike (Tracey) Parr, Rich (Judi) Parr, and Jan Walker; six grandchildren, Mike Parr II, Lorri Parr, Cecil Parr, Jenny (Franky) Edwards, Jimmy Walker and Justin Walker; seven great-grandchildren, Ethan Parr, Tyler Stagnolia, Erik Emily, Ava Walker, Ashtyn Walker, Kyra Gerbig, and Tia Walker; one brother, Bill Woodard, and several nieces nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Steve Woodard, and a sister, Barbara Ulrey.
Funeral services will be at Voss Chapel on Friday, September 18, 2015, at 10:00 am with Rev. Johnnie Spivey officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Friends and family may call at Voss Chapel from 4-7 pm on Thursday, September 17, 2015, and Friday after 9:00 am until time of service.
