John Jones

Mr. John Harrison Jones, 66 of Seymour, Indiana, passed away at 9:50 a.m. on August 24, 2015, at home with his family by his side.

John was born in Vincennes, Indiana, on October 13, 1948, the son of John William and Amy Jane (Barger) Jones.

On November 5, 1982, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, he married Martha Sue Keys.

He graduated from Monroe City High School. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He served in the US Navy during Vietnam then retired from being a truck driver after 45 years. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and riding his moped.

He is survived by his wife, four daughters, Kelly Jones, Laurie (Jeff) Reid, Amy (Nathan) Whitesell, and Susan (Michael) Bowers; a son, John “Jack” (Erika) Jones; 10 grandchildren, and one sister, Catherine S. Jones.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nancy E. Jones.

Funeral service will be at Voss Chapel on Friday, August 28, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Whitesell officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.

Friends and family may call at Voss Chapel Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday after 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
