John Melvin Earl Coryea, 86, of Seymour passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown.  Melvin was born on February 24, 1936, in Seymour to John William and Elma (Sager) Coryea.  He was a graduate of Seymour High School, and a veteran of the Indiana National Guard.  Melvin retired from Cummins Engine Corporation where he worked as a production foreman.  Melvin loved to play pool, go bowling, play chess and checkers, and go fishing.

Melvin is survived by his three children: David (Barbara) Coryea of Seymour, IN, daughter, Sherri Rider of Seymour, IN, and John (Cathy) Coryea of Mitchell, IN; five grandchildren, Dustin Coryea, Sandy (Bryce) Kyle, Carli (Jordan) Everage, Michael John (Jessica) Coryea and Christy (Daniel) Byford; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Carmon (Ialleta) Coryea, and one sister, Alberta Wineinger.  Melvin was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Helen Pinkeron

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 2pm at the Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.  There will be no visitation, but friends and family are invited to the service at the cemetery.
