Mr. Joseph F. Dominik, 92 of Seymour passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at his residence.
Joe was born January 21, 1922 in Whiting, Indiana; the son of the late Joseph and Anna (nee Hebda) Dominik.
On June 21, 1947 in Hammond, Indiana, he married, Mary A. Pasyk, who survives.
Joe is also survived by his children: Thomas (Susan) Dominik, Joseph (Alexandra) Dominik, Martin Dominik, Lygia (James) Ford, Mary Ellen (Timothy) Emch, and Claudia Dominik; brothers: The Reverend Father Stanley Dominik, John (Pearl) Dominik; sisters: Ann Radde and Irene Matz; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Dominik as well as nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Dominik; and two sisters: Mary Hruskocy, and Sophie Hapak.
During World War II, Joe honorably served his country in the European Theater receiving the Bronze Star.
Joe retired from Standard Oil/Amoco as supervisor of the maintenance department.
Joe was an active member of Saint Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour; serving the parish in many capacities, especially being a part of the volunteer mowing crew at the parish cemetery. Joe was also active in the Knights of Columbus and the Tigers Athletic and Social Club.
In his pass times, Joe enjoyed: traveling with Mary; fishing; doing carpentry work; and being a general handyman; it seems there was not anything he could not repair or fix.
Joe, most especially, will be remembered by his family as an excellent husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Joe’s family and parish church were his life.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, Seymour, by The Rev. Father Dan Staublin and The Rev. Father Stanley Dominik and The Rev. Father Joseph Sheets and with Deacon Mike East assisting; burial will follow in the Saint Ambrose Catholic Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Friends and family may call at the Voss Chapel on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM; the Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 PM. Viewing will also be in the Saint Ambrose Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until Mass time on Wednesday, December 17, 2014.
