Karen Lee Oakes, 73, passed away peacefully Friday morning, May 19, 2023. She was a long time resident of Seymour.
She met RV Oakes in 1977 and the two later married in 1986. He preceded her in death April 23, 2016.
She was born July 14, 1949 in Covington, Kentucky to parents Dorothy Baker and Tom Brewer. Survivors include her son, Tony (Kori) Oakes of Seymour; one daughter, Traci (Tim) Seavy of Lebanon; three sisters, Shirley (Roslyn) Baker of North Vernon, Frances “Cookie” Caudill of Seymour, and Lisa (Bill) McFarland of North Vernon; and several grandchildren including, Maelee Oakes and Abcde Santos.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, and daughter (Trisa).
She was a longtime employee at the Excello Shirt Factory as a seamstress where she met her husband. She also retired as a staff associate from Wal-Mart.
Visitation will take place from 3-7PM, Thursday, May 25, at Voss & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 316 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour. A graveside service will take place at 1:30 PM EST, (12:30 CST Russell Co) Friday, May 26, at the Military Springs Cemetery in Jabez, Kentucky.
